What is Seamless or "Poured" Flooring?
The installation of a poured floor customarily begins with the preparation of your sub-surface. For example, concrete, wood, steel or any other type of surface. Preparation usually
consist of one, or a combination of the following; sanding, acid etching, grinding, or shot blasting, to name a few. The extent of preparation work depends on the condition of your
sub-surface.
After the sub-surface has been properly prepared, a sealer is then applied. A high solids epoxy (liquid) base coat is then applied and customer selected vinyl chips or quartz
granules are broadcasted into the wet base coat. Once the base coat is dry, several polyurethane or epoxy top coats are added.
Why is it called "Poured Flooring"?
Because the epoxies and polyurethane's are all liquids and are "Poured" out onto the floor for installation. Thus, "Poured Flooring".
What type of surface can seamless flooring be applied over?
Just about any surface. Concrete, wood, asphalt tile, v.c.t., linoleum, hardwood, ceramic tile and steel.
Why install a seamless floor verse other types of flooring?
1. Longevity. Some seamless floor customers have floors that are 30 to 40 years old and in great condition. These floors also provide excellent wear resistance.
2. Low maintenance. A seamless floor requires no waxing or buffing and is easily cleaned. The best way to clean a seamless floor is with hot soapy water and nothing else. There
are no dirt, stain and bacteria collecting seams or grout joints. Hides dirt well.
3. Excellent chemical resistance.
4. Won't gouge or rip like linoleum. Won't chip or bust like ceramic and other tiles.
5. Vinyl chip system has an orange peel textured finish which provides excellent traction and superb wear.
6. Seamless floors can be refinished after several years to give them that "like new" look.
7. Seamless flooring can be installed over uneven or wavy substrates, like concrete or steel.
8. No continuous and costly maintenance program which can be required by v.c.t and hardwood floor systems.
9. Microbial control.
10. UV resistant & color stability.
11. Color of an existing seamless floor can be changed at anytime by simply applying a new floor right over the top.
Where have seamless floors been installed in the past?
Bathrooms, kitchens, hallways, entryways, offices, churches, lobbies, food service areas, laundries, health care facilities, shops, lunchrooms, boats, schools, auto dealerships,
kennels, laboratories, garages, warehouses, locker rooms, shower stalls, pool areas and many more. Take a look at some recent installations.
